1:1 Joshua (a-19) Meaning 'Jehovah [is] Saviour.' see Num. 13.16.3:10 the (a-9) Or 'a.' 3:16 plain, (b-35) The Arabah. see chs. 11.2,16; 12.1,3; 18.18; Deut. 1.1. Meaning strictly 'dry-[land],' but applied to the narrow strip of land in the Jordan valley on both sides of the river below the lake of Gennesaret. In ch. 4.13 it seems to mean the parts of the Arabah about Jericho.
